Darlington Point

Mick O'Brien Finding myself returning to this album over and over, as it engenders a sort of ineffable reminiscence. In the small midwestern town I lived in during college, there was a funny octagonal windmill that had been converted into an apartment, sitting at the curve of an otherwise dead-straight street as it bent around the pond. I never went inside it, and never knew anyone who had, but I'm thinking of that building today, 30 years on, and listening to Darlington Point.

For a few months in early 2001 I lived in a tent in Darlington Point, NSW, on the banks of the Murrumbidgee. I worked on farms & life was simple. I often think of those days....

For Steve & Carol, wherever they may be...

'An eerie loveliness that should really be soundtracking a Werner Herzog film; indeed Popol Vuh’s work provides a useful reference point as, similar to Vuh, the music herein is almost religious in its solemnity and grace.' The Active Listener
